Cone attended Trinity University from 1991-1995, as a Communication major and Communication Management and Art/Art History double minor. Cone worked as a student manager at Trinity University’s student-run radio station, KRTU, adopting the roles of Jazz Program Director and Operations Manager. Cone attended Trinity during the digital revolution, an era characterized by a transition from physical media to digital, and experienced massive campus-wide changes such as the introduction of the school email, working with computers in the classroom, and no longer working with tape at KRTU.  Following graduation, Cone joined TPR in 1995 as the host for the opera music station KPAC 88.3 FM and, over 30 years, transitioned into his current position as the Vice President of Culture and Community Engagement.
