After graduating from Trinity in 2019, Pyar attended Johns Hopkins, where he earned his MA in Political Science in May 2022 and his MA in Anthropology in August 2022, and went on to earn his PhD in Anthropology and Political Science in May 2024. Pyar revisited Trinity in October 2024 to speak about his dissertation, The Spectral Defect: Death, Diagnosis, and Determinism Across the Atlantic World. As of 2024, Pyar works as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values at the University of Notre Dame. He discusses his experience moving from his home in Norfolk to Bard College in New York and eventually Trinity University in San Antonio,TX. He explains his experience entering Trinity has a transfer student and the support he received from Trinity faculty, such as Dr. Carey Latimore and “Miss Stacey” Davidson. Pyar discusses how Trinity helped to foster his interdisciplinary approach to academia, eventually leading him to pursue his PhD in Anthropology and Political Science at Johns Hopkins University. Pyar mentions the impact of his personal experience both learning about instances of police brutality and racial violence in his early life and feeling othered as a Black student at Trinity on his research.
