Ms. Moore is the oldest of seven children and moved between San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, and Oklahoma City before settling back in San Antonio when she was sixteen. Ms. Moore attended Trinity University from 1984-1988 where she got a B.S. in science and returned from 1989-1993 to receive her Masters in Education Administration. Ms. Moore is a retired teacher and taught at Nimitz Middle School, Ed White Middle School, and was a chemistry and digital media professor at The International School of the Americas. In her career, she has led students through the Make a Difference project, C-SPAN’s StudentCam video competition, and advised the RotorAct club. In her retirement, Ms. Moore dedicated her time to raising funds for the San Antonio Mennonite Church, exploring and documenting San Antonio on Instagram and TikTok, and spending time with her grandchildren. Ms. Moore describes her experience as a non-traditional Trinity student and experienced the university as a young mother and commuter. She shares that her experience on campus did not have the same depth of involvement as her peers. As a Brackenridge Intern in Teaching Scholarship recipient, she describes her early years as a teacher and her work as a teacher and mentor at the International School of the Americas (ISA). She explains how her responsibilities as a mother and oldest daughter affected her early career and college experiences. Ms. Moore also describes the connections that Trinity has offered her after she graduated, especially during her time at ISA and her community at the San Antonio Mennonite Church. Ms. Moore’s connection to Trinity mostly revolves around her continued connections with the Education department and how other Alumni and the ISA community have influenced her career and personal life.
